The synapse is the crucial site where a nerve impulse is transmitted from one neuron to another. It is at the synapse that events can happen that facilitate or disrupt the normal functioning of the nervous system. Figure 4.18 on page 96 of the text illustrates the seven steps in neurotransmitter action, and Figure 4.19 on page 97 illustrates various ways in which drugs can interfere (for better or worse) with synaptic transmission. Select and describe one (1) of the actions on either of the figures and describe it in your own words. What could be the possible consequences of the event you describe.
